Tetzelhaus (Schmiedestraße 19)
Birth place of Dominican friar Johannes Tetzel (born in 1465). His selling of indulgences and a couplet attributed to him: "As soon as a coin in the coffer rings / the soul from purgatory springs" inspired Martin Luther to write his Ninety-Five Theses as a protest against the sale of indulgences, thus initiating the Protestant Reformation.
Originally, the house was two separate buildings with recessed seats in the entrance doorways. The roof can be dated back to 1381. A Gothic period panelled post and beam room can be found at the first floor.
