Chief mayor Klaus-Peter Hanke
The chief mayor of the district capitol Pirna is appointed by direct election every seven years. The next mayoral elections will be held at the end of 2016/beginning of 2017.
Chief mayor Klaus-Peter Hanke assumed office on February 22, 2010. Born in Pirna in 1953, he was the "Freie Wähler" party leader at the Pirna City Council from 1994 to 2010. From 2006 to 2010, the master craftsman for road construction was also Honorary Mayor of Pirna.
Mayor for Building, Urban Development and Education
Pirna also has a mayor. As the deputy of the chief mayor, he is responsible for building, urban development and education. The deputy mayor is elected by the City Council for a duration of seven years.
In 2014, Eckhard Lang was appointed as Mayor for Building, Urban Development and Education.
