Pirna City Council counts 26 members and is appointed by direct election every five years. The next election will be held in 2014.

The work of the City Council
Since 2004, detailed information about the work and activities of the City Council are made available to the public via the Council's online information system. The information system provides an extensive insight into local politics and makes decision making processes highly transparent to the public. The meeting schedule listing agendas, proposed resolutions and protocols as well as information about the city councillors, parliamentary groups and committees is available to all citizens.
